LLNS offers employees the opportunity to enroll in a tax-deferred 401(k) retirement plan to save for future retirement. LLNS adds to the account with an employer matching contribution up to 6% of pay and a service based contribution which starts at 3 1/2% of pay to eligible participants. Vesting is immediate for all contributions.
To sum up, the benefit package is fine, but not too much to brag about, compared to good industry companies.
I am fortunate to be grandfathered into the pension, however contributing to it, after taxes is very stressful on my budget.
Pension plan is closed but it is a great benefit for employees here prior to 2007.
The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory retirement plan is the 401K retirement plan that matches up to 6% contributed
About as good as it gets for older employees with the pension plan -- 40 years of service and age 60=> 100% salary. Twenty years of service=> free healthcare
