I went into the job opportunity willing to go out into the field and diligently perform each assigned task. Lawrence Merchandising did not encourage such behavior but encouraged me to stay home and fill out surveys (as if, I had performed the tasks). This was not the work from home environment that I wanted. I wanted to work from home, travel to stores, but actually do a great job! They were not interested in an employee who did a great job (in the stores) but wanted an employee that would conform to just filling out the surveys (in otherwards . . . .pretending that they had gone to the stores). My best conscious could not allow me to feel comfortable with this type of employment. I thought I could change the culture by doing a great job (a lot of times, on my own time) and filling out the surveys, diligently . . . however, it soon was to my demise.
I did most of my work on-site at retail locations but occasionally used my home office to submit jobs and fax paperwork. An office isn't necessary but I recommend a filing cabinet to keep track of all documents.
It was hard to get paid for the work you had to do at home, like reporting your hours and looking at what jobs were added to your schedule and them you had to move them to the days you think you could get that job done. It took a lot of time.
