It is unpaid, but I strongly recommend using your short-term disability. Also, being a male dominant company, a lot of district managers, and regionals even, are not properly trained in state laws, mandates and rights. So just be sure to educate your manager and don't be afraid to exercise your rights.
I didn't like being told I could only get 6 weeks paid leave, then returning to work and being told I could've taken more time.
