Excellent benefit package that cover extensive benefit
The benefits are amazing! Paid sick and vacation, matching 401k, all of the insurances (medical, dental, vision, legal, disability).
I was surprised to learn that dental and vision coverage for myself, wife, and 3 kids is free! We get every other Friday off, 12 holidays, and the Lab shuts down for last week of December. Been here for 3 years- my premiums haven't increased in last 2. People complain about new hires not getting a pension- they probably don't know most corporations don't. A lot of corporations don't match 6% of your salary in a 401k like they do here. Plus you get extra match every year, which increases after 3 years.
everything is very good! I don't have anyhting to say about it.
LANL provides full medical coverage to all employees working 50% time or more. There is a $250/year contribution to your HSA if you choose the HDCP, which has a $1500 deductible and a $3000 out-of-pocket max. All preventive care is covered at 100%, including mammograms and blood tests for STI's. The 401k matching is also generous, and the plan offers a Roth 401k, which effectively increases the amount one can contribute by the percentage of your tax rate. For people who want to maximize their savings and expect tax rates to increase, this is a huge benefit.
Quality Blue Cross health insurance. Matching 401k at 6% and a bonus 3%.
Working at Los Alamos National Laboratories was great, but as an intern you do not get very many benefits, and you are at the bottom of the totem pole.
good benefits over all. ok health insurance. Off every other Friday is a big plus. Older stuff still have pension; Children go to UC system for in-state tuition.
The best thing is all about the salary compare to other university postdocs. However, life here is a bit isolated.
The 401K match is reasonable. The health insurance is reasonable. There is eye, legal, dental, and mental health benefits as well.
