It's a great opportunity and the professors care about their students. I'm a research assistant intern and while I am paid I do not get benefits which is fine that's what it means to be an intern

Get regular sick time and anfair amount of vacation time..about 10 days per year. The best is university holidays are also paid, so in addition to your vacation time you get unviersity holidays as well.

The best benefit and only benefit as a graduate teaching assistant is tuition reimbursement. However, they are very strict about which classes you take, for example ONLY the classes required for your degree.
