Great package for internships. They really look after you with housing, awesome events, food, trips, along with all the work and events.
Pros: • Healthcare, vision and dental are amazing - although Cigna High PPO premiums are pretty high. • They have free OneMedical memberships! • Catered lunches 2x a week. • Unlimited PTO (managers are really good about approving time off). • Mobile phone stipend for certain roles. • Office happy hours & events. • Dog friendly in Palo Alto, CA. • Working from home is encouraged when sick, important errands to run or other situations. This is great for culture. You don’t feel restrained and can have a better work life balance. Cons: • No CalTrain GOPass in the Bay Area. Every startup and major corporation offers this in the Bay Area. My guess is that they won’t do it because NYC transit systems don’t offer this type of deal! $290 per year (yes, PER YEAR) per Bay Area employee (must cover all) for unlimited zones and trips. This definitely impacts the hiring efforts in the Bay Area. It would save employees that use CalTrain over $2,500 per year and it would only cost them $290 (they could even pass the cost on to the employees). • No 401k matching. • Very minimal stock options, except for engineers and upper management. No additional options on anniversaries or for outstanding performance. • Salaries are low for the Bay Area and compared to other Bay Area companies. Since HQ is in NYC, they believe NYC is a much more expensive cost of living.
One of the best benefits is unlimited vacation time.
401K matching would be nice but don't feel necessary. Equity grants could also be a bit more generous given competitive offers.
