Low employee contribution & 401k matching 100% up to 5% of salary.
They discontinued the pension plan, but do match 401k contributions and contribute an additional percentage that is not matching
Flexibility in telecommuting depending on department
NORCAL offers a great benefits package.
Positives are competitive 401K matching, generous PTO (Paid Time Off) benefits and ability to telecommute. They no longer have a pension and require cost sharing for health and dental. PPO options/carrier not favorable.
Medical benefits provide good options and reasonable copays and NORCAL contributes materially. Work from home is in its nascence but has strong management support. 401K provides matching up to about 5%. Uses PTO (so combined sick/vacation) that is competitive to generous.
Had Pension and 401 K. Matched 401
Used to be better. Discontinued fully employer funded pension plan and reneged on the promised grandfathered employee pension plan.
You get very good medical/dental coverage. The 401K matching is decent. And you can quickly get 25 PTO days a year after working for 5 years. The pension plan used to be good, but has stopped.
Match for 401k contribution up to 5%
