The benefits package is Nissan's leverage for keeping staff. The very inexpensive $35 a month full coverage health insurance is a definite plus for the industry. Other, more extensive options are offered; however, for the general populous, the basic coverage is supreme. 401k contributions are par at best with most industries as they partner with Vanguard. You must make your own decisions within that profile to actually make any growth in your retiring finances. The "match" of 6% is not actually a full 6%. It is more like 4.5% total once you read the fine print; however, any company willing to offer money to its employees should be considered a positive. Nissan's wellness program is superior to any industry I've worked for previously. They offer $800 free wellness dollars for singles and more for families to go towards remaining well and taking care of sickness. This only involves a biometric screening (done on site) and a basic sign up from the employee. Nissan will also match up to $250 if you contribute up to $250 into your wellness account. This could mean for a single person up to $1050 of free money in an Health Savings Account (HSA) that can be rolled over year-over-year as well as carried forward to other careers upon termination. The HSA also offers the incentive to invest this money so it has an opportunity to grow on its own. For someone who does not get sick often, this is an easy way to contribute pre-tax contributions towards your future doctors visits. On-site doctors visits and on-site pharmacy are extremely inexpensive. Example: took my current medication from $250 dollars a month to $17. With savings like that, it is hard to walk away and consider other industries who may not have that network power.
55+ hours a week, a job more meant for single individuals.
Great 401K, and the medical, dental & vision are great and well priced
Nissan offers employees short-term (1-yr agreements, but effectively shorter) discounted leases on (most) Nissan and Infiniti models. IRS rules regarding imputed income apply. But it's still a valuable benefit with parents and siblings of employees being eligible to lease vehicles too. Leased vehicle benefits are commonly offered by OEMs in the automotive industry.
