Quickly gain significant time off earned but difficult to schedule it
Accruel of PTO and vacation time
after being employed for five years, you can earn four weeks of vacation time per year, but can only have 8 weeks on the books at a time. There is no incentive to continue working with them past five years because you get no added benefits. Even at 10, 20, or even 30 years, you don't earn more leave and can not store any more leave.
The best thing about vacation and paid time off honestly is just having it. I've never had a job where I can stay home sick and still get my 8 hours in. I'm not sure how it compares to others in the industry, but I love it.
Use it or loose it
It is nice to start out with two weeks; however, you may be required to use it for down time after long trips offshore to recover (35 days offshore allowed for 3 "free" days).
The vacation approval is local; some departments require it, others don't. Ability to accrue vacation is a major plus.
Oceaneering offers both accrued vacation and sick time. Of course vacation is to be used at your discretion and sick time should always be reserved for those unforeseen sicknesses, doctor appointment, and other health related issues. There is a simple vacation form that must be completed and approved by your supervisor, prior to actually taking your vacation, but it is simple, easy and efficient.
Great benefit to carry over vacation time but maximum per year is 4 weeks
Both sick and vacation options
