Never needed to use but as many all around the country, nurses sometimes worked until they gave birth because they wanted to have that bit of time provided for when baby arrived. Never heard about paternity leave

Any additional time off after the 6-8 week mark is not paid since it is not medically necessary for the mom to be out. You are also not able to use your extended leave bank for this very reason as well. Almost makes that bank useless if you are in good health. So baby bonding time is on your own dime.
