Health Insurance is the best thing
The best benefit was the health Insurance and the PTO.
Several great benefits help to mitigate the poor salaries here. In particular, summer Fridays help boost morale, and the company's retirement plan (7% of your salary is automatically put away, and you are vested after 3 years. There is also a thrift plan with some matching that you can begin after working at OUP for 1 year.) Vacation time is low (starting at 2 weeks, bumping up to 3 after 5 years, 4 after 10 years, etc.), but many positions allow for flexible hours and working from home. There's a decent employee discount on books (50% in most cases, 75% at Christmas) and free bagels on Friday mornings. They offer discounts on some local gym memberships and movie tickets, and pay 80% of decent healthcare, dental, and vision plans. Some employees (sales reps) receive company cars. The office also has a "social committee" that plans free events at least once a month, including author talks, trivia nights, and mixers, which help contribute to employee morale and community building.
Good retirement & better than average family leave.
The benefits package is comprehensive and the 401K and Health Insurance suppliers are top notch.
Decent benefits overall; good retirement plan and company provides lots of support / information along those lines.
