  • Health Insurance(5 comments)

    Really great for the most part. A bit expensive for full family (600+ per month for best PPO option); however, for employee + children, it's just above $100 per month. Employee + spouse is just under $200 a month. HMO through Kaiser is only offered in Northern California. A bit over $400/month for the family on the best plan. A bit over $40 for kids and employee and 120 for employee + spouse. The deductibles for the PPO are low and there's an amazing amount of services that do not kick in the deductible. Most typical medical expenses (e.g. doctor, specialists, mental health, medication) do not require the employee to cover the deductible! Fairly low max out of pocket as well (4x deductible individual or 8x for the family) on the PPO. They offer 30k for reproductive assistance on the PPO plan and 1 round with Kaiser.

Good: * Standard health, vision, dental insurance * PTO is 3 weeks for first year, 4 weeks per year onwards (standard in tech) * Extra wellness days during COVID-19 pandemic * Using PTO for mental health days are openly encouraged * Pre-covid, standard tech office perks (free lunch, drinks, snacks, game room, free transport from office to BART in the SF office) * VTO (volunteer time off) is world-class Bad: * Lower salaries compared to other companies * No annual company bonuses, horribly low annual merit increases (1-2%!) * Low 401-k contribution (1%) * Uses mental health app for free coaching/therapy sessions, that is not rated well with employees
