from the Pega HR portal: short version: you are allowed 7 days of sick time but if you take 5 consecutive days of sick time: go unpaid or leave. Sick time is used to take care of yourself or an immediate family member who is sick. In general, employees are allowed seven (7) days each year. Under extenuating circumstances, your manager, along with Human Resources, will work with you to establish the best resolution on how to account for the time. Should sick time be extended beyond five consecutive days, an employee may be required to apply for a Leave of Absence or an Intermittent Leave. Sick time is separate from short term or long term disability benefits and/or leave policies.
