Vacation and Paid time off is decent. you get a pretty good amount. However it seems the amount you earn is based on your position and not how long you have been here. They have, "tiers", in which someone can earn vacation.

PSU allows for 16 hours a month and 18 hours after 25 years of service. However, you're capped at the number of hours that you can accrue. If you've worked at the University less than 25 years, you're capped at 240 hours; if you've worked more than 25 years, you're capped at 264. I believe that if you leave with vacation time, you're compensated for the balance of you're annual leave.

If you get your work done, professors don't mind if you go on vacations, and you still get paid. One of my lab members would leave the country every other month because she got her her work done.
