Vacation rates are good. As a full time manager, it can be hard to take time off due to the scheduling demands of retail.
Vacation and paid time off are fairly standard for most companies, but above average for baseline retail.
They have these things called "Yay Days". You receive one fully paid day-off per month to spend outside. Management is pretty flexible when asking for days off, that is, as long as it is a few weeks in advance.

As a part time employee, we get paid days off called a "yay day", in which you can request a specific paid day off. Black Friday for the past two years have been paid days off as well.

There are many blackout dates where employees are unable to take time off.
REI acts like they'll work with you to give you time off if you need it. Realistically they blackout all dates that would be remotely conducive to having a life outside of work.
