“It's just candy. They don't put out enough for everyone. When the candy gets put out every afternoon, people grab handfuls of it to hoard at their desks.”
The 100% company-paid insurance option was a much-appreciated benefit.
Health insurance is fine, 401k match is good, 15 days vacation for under three years of servuce
Standard benefits for young professionals. Health cared was a tier plan with the lowest starting at $0.
Great perks, healthcare and benefits
Helpful and appropriate for entry level full time hires
There isn't one. They classify everyone as a freelancer to keep costs low.
Best: 1-month sabbatical after 4 years of working at R29. They are pretty flexible on vacation requests. Worst: Maternity leave is not long enough, especially for a women's empowerment company. 3 months.
Best: If you are one of the rare few to get benefits, there are 12 weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave. Worst: Refinery29 relies on full-time freelancers who are paid a day rate, so they can work them 14 hours per day and pay no benefits.
Great health insurance package, standard vacation time, they don't like when you work from home but you can, free coffee and snacks
The worse thing about Refinery29 is the way the video team is run. It is appalling the lack of diversity and the way certain things are communicated. Out of the three supervisors, one is completely ruthless and has a lack of compassion.
