Dissimilar to the majority of the US universities, Rutgers University does not provide paid parental leave. You maybe eligible for unpaid FMLA throught he state and pay your own insurance premium if you have worked for the university for one year. Currently, the Union is trying to negotiate with the University on a parental leave for faculty and staff but it is very unlikely to reach an agreement given Rutgers does not seem flexible.

Maternity and Paternity Leaves are given, if employee has enough time to stay out. Co-workers are able to donate time.
