Excellent plan compared to what many other companies offer. First off, up to 6% of whatever your base salary is pre-tax dollar for dollar (your contribution $5000 = company contribution $5000, as an example); secondly, the company match vests IMMEDIATELY upon hitting your account - no vesting, no waiting, all yours. Thirdly, for employees 50 years of age or older, there is a "catch up" contribution up to $6000 per year ON TOP of your regular contributions (which are capped by IRS at $18,000 for 2016 calendar year) - this means that if you decide to absolutely max out and contribute $18,000 - you will have the company match on top of it (whatever 6% of your base is) AND the $6,000 of "catch up". We are talking pretty serious dollars here, no?
