State requires paid time off
The first year as a part employee your vacation time is based off of an average of how many hours you worked that year. The 2nd year you have 40 HOURS of vacation time unlike other companies that give you a full week off.
Takes a very long time to earn
It takes a long time to earn paid time off at Safeway, and only people that have been with the company for more than a year can earn overtime on holidays.
If you have plenty of years with the company you get some vacation and paid time off which very helpful when you need it
up to 5 weeks vacation pay, 2 floating days off, support if need time off for family leave, plan your vacations during off seasons
You get a week's paid vacation after a full year of working at the company, two weeks after two years and four weeks after four years of employment. You are paid what you average in hours over the year which could be a good thing or bad thing.
Worked as pharmacist at Safeway for 2 years, and vacation time was only honored on one occassion ( a 3 day weekend). I requested vacation time for my wedding and honeymoon and was denied; it was requested 15 months in advance! Management stated they couldn't find anyone to cover my shifts.
It would be nice, to have paid vacation time; and paid time off; because I am a single mom, of special needs child.
