health insurance reasonable price, good pension plan, no match with 457
Healthcare is a huge downside for this county. 30K employees and HR/Benefits can't seem to negotiate baller benefits? We either need new negotiators or we need to investigate where all this money is going....

You get a pension at 2 percent per year and kaiser. Yay yay yay yay yay yay
The County offers a very nice benefits package. It is certainly better than some of the private Companies have offered. Sadly, as with other things the cost kept going up and some of the services became a bit more limited, but I was thankful for the benefits they offered, because insurance is so expensive. Again it was adequate coverage. Because the County wants to prevent some long-term ailments, etc, they do offer a lot of preventative programs. They also have a very nice retirement program if you stay long enough.

The best thing is the health insurance. Many different options are available.
Great medical. Lots of paid holidays. The union works hard to negotiate a fair contract.
Being able to add dependants to medical and dental plans.
