Best: Generous vacation/paid time off (starts at 3 weeks/year of vacation time, 13 paid holidays plus employee's birthday, lots of sick time) Worst: Health insurance coverage for spouse/dependents is cost prohibitive
The perks and benefits at SFMOMA are not good. They are constantly trying to fight to pay their union workers less and complain about the bottom line while spending thousands on donor parties and events. It's just a disheartening place to work.
4 weeks vacation for management positions
Not enough for San Francisco economics. People may say that we earn a lot but it's not enough especially when the director gets paid for almost $1 Million (it's a non-profit org) when you get paid close to the minimum and it took 6+ months to even get 15-20 cent pay raise.
For a single individual the medical plans are fine, but if you plan on having children or dependents, be prepared for sky-high employee contributions that make it nearly impossible to justify working here. This is especially egregious, since the majority of the benefits-eligible staff are women.
There was a cost-free health benefit option that I took advantage of since I rarely need to go to the doctor. Other options for individuals were cost-friendly but if you have a family to cover, forget about it! Thousands of dollars per month, in addition to add a family member. No 401k until you've worked the equivalent of 2 years and logged a certain amount of hours for Union employees; exempt employees are different. Vacation days accrued are about 10 days plus holidays and 3 personal days that you must use before the end of the year and "can't be used consecutively with a holiday." Perks are: SFMOMA membership, random tickets to performances, member preview parties, reciprocal admission at other museums, curatorial tours for staff, library of publications to check out, happy hours on the 10th floor every so often, unhealthy snacks left on the common kitchen table every once in a while. 30% off Museum Store.
Expensive benefits package especially if you're adding dependents
Health Insurance, 403B, Membership, Dental, Vision.
overall good but staff at all levels of salary pay the same cost for health care - unfair
I could work part time, 28-32 hers a week or more if I wanted or they needed me and got full benefits. Yep,... dental, and everything, pretty great. Perfect for artists/creatives/musicians.
