The health benefits are extremely reasonable. The vacation time accrual rate is very good, even for your first year as an employee. The benefits were one of the main reasons why I accepted the job.
We had access to lynda.com, and we were able to use it for whatever we liked. I watched a lot of online courses!
There is a 403b for faculty which has a modest matching plan. Medical and dental are average. 1 year salary life insurance.
There is no maternity leave you simply use your FMLA and receive 60% of your pay from short term disability after using all of your vacation time because vacation and sick time is not in the same pot, if you have issues while pregnant you will more than likely not have much vacation time once you deliver. The best thing about the benefits is the fact that we have them and you are given the opportunity to choose which level of benefits you want to have. The recent change to UMR has been positive, SCAD previously had Meritain which was a nightmare when it came to customer service.
Excellent benefits. Unlike any package I've ever had with a job. Won't leave you broke trying to go to the doctor.
The benefits package is average. Health, dental, vision are all average. However, the healthcare spending account is horrible. Every time you go to the doctor and pay with the card, you are continuously asked to provide receipts, invoice, etc., even they they see the name of the doctor's office and clearly your payment was for services rendered. It's a hassle.
SCAD Radio is a student organization within SCAD, so while you are technically employed by the college and receive a small monthly stipend, you should not expect to get any benefits package. It is not a full time job, and they are all temporary positions. It's very similar to the work-study program that SCAD has.
Three weeks vacation - but no sick days/PTO days. Good retirement - high contribution from employer.
The benefits package for faculty is good. Reasonable health insurance, additional dental and eye. Joining the preventative health program provides discounted rates. Retirement matching is reasonable.
Health insurance - good Time for professional advancement or disipline specific research - minima Incursion into work/life balance - dismal
