The best thing about the benefits package at Seattle Central Community Colkege is Healthcare insurance and 401k. The worst thing is the unpaid holiday.
Decent health insurance at a time when it was quickly becoming unaffordable. Fair amount of vacation, (separate from sick), most standard govt holidays are also paid time off. No 401k but very good PERS retirement if you plan to stay for the long haul.
The best thing is the 401K matching program; however, it's a double-edged sword. Yes, they match a higher percentage (10% when you are over 40 years old); however, they're matching 10% of a very low salary.
Great ORCA card program. The longer you're there, the more PTO you get. $5 a month gets you a membership to the campus gym. You're Union so once you're past your 6 month probation, it's near impossible to get fired.
- no benefit cause of contract job
SCC offers good benefits for full time workers, but none for part time workers. Retirement is done through Washington funded PERS account, and cannot be managed directly, or added to in other positions.
well there is not too many benefit for my job title. perhaps it was different for other people
Worst--no family/flex leave so you have to be sick or not sick. Best--2 days off per month means a whole month off per year in addition to sick leave, although it's hard to use it if you're in management. Employees are NOT encouraged to take their vacation by the organization as a whole. You have to schedule it and ask for it.
life, death and dismemberment insurance; auto-loan and home loan programs; dental and health plans; health savings account
So-so benefits. Medical requires too much out of pocket.
