“1 week is the absolute minimum I've seen at any employer. Most companies have increased to at least a few weeks, and in some cases a couple months. 1 week is not enough to do anything. On top of that, since they are an international company, some countries require longer parental leave, so us in the U.S. have to take 1 week, then sit and watch someone from Europe, Australia, Canada or elsewhere get longer parental leave breaks. They don't need to be top of the food chain here, but a week is less than most employers, and likely as low as you will ever see from a software company.”
The benefits package is very competitive.
Company offers great work life balance.

Good package generally but expensive
Aside from the sheer amount of PTO offered, they are severely lacking in just about every other benefits category. Especially for the industry. Health insurance is expensive. 401k match is only 50 cents on the dollar up to 6%, so you contribute 6% they contribute 3%. Parental leave is only 1 week. In addition to this, all of the fringe benefits that used to exist have been stripped within the last few years. Things they used to do that they don't do any more. 1. Quarterly team outings with lunch and an activity 2. Free bagel Friday where they provided free Einsteins Bagels every week 3. Holiday Parties 4. Summer parties(zoo, water park, etc...) 5. In office activities such as Halloween parties. They also used to provide free lunch on the day before thanksgiving, on Halloween, and a few other times throughout the year for all staff. 6. Birthday lunches 7. Free food such as Donuts for larger company meetings. The most frustrating part of all this is that while cutting out all of these benefits, as well as 90% of their travel budget, they haven't used any of that saved up money to increase wages, so they are just saving money instead of using it on other employee perks.
SirsiDynix offers SelectHealth to Utah employees, which is the largest healthcase provider in Utah, so finding services in network and getting expenses covered is easy. They also offer 401K matching.
Generous PTO but healthcare options are limited and 401k match is below other employer offerings in the marketplace
Adequate but could be more competitive
Option to WFH is a big plus. I start with talking to my team every morning followed by working on different projects through the day. You could use your PTO whichever way you want, not limited to sick days only. In addition to the accrued PTO, Sirsi also offers a few more floating holidays as your benefit. A great company to work for if you are not too ambitious about a high pay.
