There isn't really any family medical leave. One employee actually quit for maternity leave so she could be rehired when she felt it was appropriate to come back. That's how short maternity leave is here.
have to ask and not guaranteed approval
i do not require it, i feel it is abused highly by many people who lack motivation and are not willing to put in the work and make it difficult for the ones who really need it
They make you go on an unpaid LOA (leave of absence)
I have had to utilize this twice. The first time my mom became ill and then within a month she passed away. It was so easy to have her physician fill out the paperwork and i submitted it and that was it. Then my husband had a series of strokes and a heart attack and its been a nightmare with a headache. The didn't receive the paperwork or couldn't find it. I never received a copy this time. I wasn't informed as to how many intermittent hours I was allowed and there fore took days off to be with him that turned out not to be covered.
