the best thing about the benefits are all the healthcare options and ability to earn leave and overtime.
Great benefits provided through federal employment.
federal government benefits; lots of paid-time-off, the ability to work over 40 hours/week and credit those hours to use for paid-time-off; GS pay scale is generous; insurance benefits (medical/mental/vision/dental/life/disability) are incredible; retirement/pension; 401(k) (or something similar)... no complaints about benefit package
You hear all of this stuff about government workers having such great benefits. Well, I pay about $200 per paycheck for my health insurance. HR never corrected an issue I had with exemptions and that plus the "optional" overtime causes me to owe the IRS massive amounts of money at the end of each tax year. There's nothing special about the benefits and the state agency I came from had a much better benefits package.
FERS (pension), 401k plan, federal holidays.
Generous leave and sick time. Thrift savings plan.
vacation 401k are the best i have found in my years of working. Great place to work and the parking lot has a lot of perks or people who are interested
good benefits, excellent time off and sick time
The best thing offered is the liberal vacation time. You are off for two weeks to start and then, after five years, three weeks. Finally, after 15 years, you get a whole month off.
Government benefits are usually exaggerated by those who never worked in the government or those who have a biased view towards the government.
