Benefits package is absolutely amazing at Spacex. Company covers my medical, dental, and vision insurance (depending on the package you choose). I get a free gym membership, commuter benefits for the metro, on site health clinic, legal assistance, and a wide array of other benefits. Wish they did some percentage for matching 401K contributions, however, instead we do have the option to acquire stock.
no 401k. stocks awarded instead. fully vested after 5 years. you have to pay taxes on the stock
Awesome health insurance and retirement plans
Best thing is the stock/equity part of the compensation.... It's in addition to your salary, and though I can't disclose how much it is, it is substantial.
Best thing is the stock award, which could be incredibly valuable in the future. The worst thing was probably the length of the interview process, but I completely understand and appreciate why it is that length.
On site medical centered 100% covered by the company, Onsite Dental service, free barista service at multiple locations, fresh pressed juices and healthy teas, multiple dining options, free fresh fruit to snack on, free gym membership with multiple gym options, stock options, tours for family and friends, bike share program to ride through the campus, concierge security, kick ass awards (Includes a bonus) Watching launches from mission control, custom mission patches after every successful mission, lots of opportunity to advance and grow, sports teams, interest groups, strong female presence including womens network, lunch and learns, emergency pet and child care, etcc....
+Free basic medical, dental, and vision for employees. +Slightly discounted swag and food. +Free caffeinated beverages +/-RSU stocks offered when hired sounds great but really you should divide that offer in half because you will either need to pay nearly 50% tax or they will take out the equivlant value of stock to cover the tax. +generally follows California minimum benefit laws across all states that care less about their works (I'm talking about you Texas) +/-3 weeks vacation for every one (good luck using all at once) -No matching 401k +/- Most of all benefits like additional life insurance, Legal Assistance, etc. are offered but you must pay for them. Some times it a good deal if you know during your going to need something for the following year during your open enrollment (a 3 week period in the fall were you can chose what benefits you want to pay for next year). Sometimes your better off shopping around your self. +/- offers various unpaid leave for medical, death and so on.
Food onsite saves TONS of time
Cost of living is terrible in Los Angeles. Base salary is helpful, but not sufficient to live without roommates. Equity is fantastic, and overall an excellent benefits and perk package.
There is No 401K matching
List based on reports from current and former employees. It may not be complete.
