Thanks to the union contract, exempt / non manager employees have excellent benefits. The health insurance is affordable and comprehensive, along with dental and vision. Vacation benefits are also very good.
So glad the union is strong, because the parent company would take away everything and anything it can. The benefits used to be really strong (there used to be an on-site gym with cheap fees), but that has changed, much like any media company. Vacation policy outside of the 1st year or two is very good, but the health insurance has become awful, with high premiums for high deductibles and overall weak coverage, compared to what you can get at similar companies. The 401k program is solid for employee contributions, but the union has had to fight to get the company to throw in $75 a month for "matching" funds. Local management is good, but corporate is doing everything it can to pinch pennies and get itself out of debt (while paying its top execs millions in bonuses).
Health. Vision, Dental and life insurance. 401k with no employer contribution. No pension. No short or long-term disability offered, except for managers.
Too expensive for the coverage you get.
the pension were great til they discontinuted the packages.
