based on hours worked, if you work overtime the accrual rate is higher as well. Utilizing it can be difficult, you have to use a different system to use it and the requirements are extremely stringent

PTO accrues overtime based on job level and tenure, but you start off with a couple weeks depending on the position you're hired into. Sick time is available separate from PTO for yourself or someone you're taking care of. You also can get PTO for volunteering, special holidays, and many other reasons.
