Great health care options. Still able to participate in PERA. Rates keep climbing, which chips away at overall benefit satisfaction.

The employer contributions are very high, which keeps employee costs low. The retirement package is awesome; the state contributes over 10% of your gross every month.

Not a lot of "extras", but the retirement plan is good.

Generous number of vacation, holiday, and sick days even for entry-level positions. Contributing to PERA (retirement fund for State employees) rather than pay Social Security taxes is great for long-term financial security.

The best benefit of working for the State of Colorado was PERA. Even though it didn't function like a 401(k) and you couldn't take a loan, the automatic contribution meant that you didn't miss the money. Plus the match was great.

The best benefit was the pension plan (PERA). Overall, the benefits weren't too bad, but with recent economic hard times, the state has had to cutback on benefits.
