The benefits aren't amazing, but that's not surprising considering the rising costs of healthcare in the US. They get the job done, but they're not the "platinum level" touting by some.

Competitive salary, flexible schedule, good pension and health insurance and compensated time off.
Several health insurance options and vision and dental benefits
The State of Illinois does not pay your medical insurance premiums. When your providers come asking and you ask your employer, they suggest telling your doctor to wait another 90 days or so.
The benefits have changed and can vary significantly. Pay scale plays a role in that also. You must do your own diligence to know and understand what benefits are available to you. Some managers are in the union and get automatic increases whereas there are the working poor non managers that have to rely on fairness or discretion of someone else. That is the worst because it doesn't matter from one administration to the next. They will always say it's not in the budget but most managers old and new are easily in the 6 figures. No real "Diversity" program exist.
