    Earned sick days by number of hours worked. Insurance is expensive. Matched and included extra monies in health savings plan. Changed insurance companies several times.

    I was never given any benefits package, nothing, even when I was super sick I would go into work, while the others that were partying would call in and not get in trouble.

    I was told to get my benefits the last day that they were available. I had access to the store computer, but it did not have the ability to pull up website links, and so I had no information to base my decision on. I got the lowest of everything because I was rushed and uninformed.

    The benefits were much better when I first started, but were still better than most places in Port Aransas offered. They have health insurance at a decent rate for employees, but the deductible is extremely high at $2,500 for the employee or $5,000 for family/spouse. the monthly rate to add spouse and/or family is ridiculous (several hundred per month depending on the plan you choose). Prescription, vision, dental, etc. were all about average. Not too terribly expensive for employee and others. They did have $10K of free life insurance for employee and cheap rates to add more for yourself & spouse. Stripes does offer 401K retirement benefits, but the company matched very little. And they the financial group that handled the 401K did not get as good of results as the previous financial company. They did have good vacation plans. One week after only one year of service, two weeks after only two years on the job. But once you got to three weeks paid vacation , then that was it. After ten years it would have been nice to have had another week of vacation, but I was still happy to have any paid time off. They only offered three days of sick time, less than the six days I received when I started. And sick time was only for full time employees. Actually I think there were no benefits at all for part time or temporary employees. Overall, benefits were not bad, but could have been better.

    I think they have good benefits, but they are not explained to the employees, not even my manager could tell me how I could up what they took out for my 401k, after 2 1/2 years they only took out $134. I would of taken out way more.

    Training is very important. Uniformity is very important. Information is very important. Employees are not given any discounts for purchases.
