Health insurance on your first day was the convention when I was hired. It was a good benefits package which included all of the major pieces you would expect from a large company.
No vacation rollover, so you lose it if not used by EOY. Mgmt forcefully suggests you take vacation regularly but insists that you be available should they need you.
If you choose the options for coverage of spouse & dependents, you will be paying $6K a year, pre-tax, deducted from each paycheck. On top of that, co-pays and deductibles will add another $2-3K.
