Competitive for what other companies offer.

This ALL depends on your manager. No guaranteed vacation. If your mgr approves it, you get it.

We use My Time Off which is manager approved. You build no vacation time and therefore the company has no overhead and if you leave they owe you no vacation time. On the positive side if you are a hard worker and have a good manager then you time off requests get approved without a problem.

Symantec uses the "take what you need" model of time off. This is great as I don't have to closely monitor how much time I have, but it ALSO makes people nervous to take time off...they don't want to be perceived as abusing the system. Overall, I believe this has lead to people taking *less* time off...people often need to be pushed to take the time off they need.

Symantec does not provide vacation time off. Reason: if you need time off, you address this with your colleague, and take of the week or two that has been requested. Your colleague will attempt to back fill you in your absents. Thus no vacation time process is required.

No Limit but up to manager's discretion

They say that there is no PTO or vacation, but you can just take what you want when you need to. They say it is not tracked but it is also expected that you dont use any.

The company switched to MTO (My Time Off) in 2016. Portrayed as unlimited Time off to take when and how long you need it. In practice you cannot as decision becomes discretionary to each group. Three weeks on Christmas can be challenging depending on group even when under the "older" model you saved your days for Christmas and despite the shutdown.

Average for industry standard but nothing special.
