Health benefits are a joke
They match 4% of your 401K.
TEGNA has worked to improve their benefits based on employee feedback, which I appreciate. Most employers these days would not do such a thing. This year, TEGNA is now offering CCHP (high deductible) and PPO health care plans. PPO cost a little more but you get co-pays and a lower yearly deductible (half the amount of the CCHP plan). Previously, TEGNA only offered the CCHP plan. In addition, they have reduced premiums for the CCHP plan by over $400 for individuals and over $1000 for family plans. Just two years ago the premium for the CCHP family plan was about double what it cost today. How many other employers have slashed premiums in half? Plus for those on the CCHP plan they boosted their HSA contribution--$500 for individuals, $750 for employee + spouse or child, and $1000 for family. 401k match is four percent, which is decent. It used to be five percent, though, but it's not the worst I've ever had. Starting this past year they also converted all time off to PTO. No more separate vacation, holiday, and sick time, which is great. I wish more companies would make it all PTO. So now instead of having two weeks of vacation, I have 28 days off each year I can use as I please. So if I stay healthy, that's five weeks of vacation with a few days left over I can save in case I'm sick. Gotta love that! I hope TEGNA continues on this path of improving benefits for employees. The well-being of employees should always be a priority. Happy workers are productive workers and will want to stay with the company, and TEGNA's commitment to improving benefits is a reason I want to stay compared to other media companies I have worked for or applied at.
Solid benefits, especially as you spend more time with the company.
Similar to most media companies. 401k , vacation time, etc. are all in line with competitors. Health insurance offers a couple of levels including Kaiser.
Limited health insurance choice, but pretty good at keeping costs consistent year to year.
Health insurance seems fair, but very expensive if you have a family plan vs a individual plan
Generous paid time off for employees.
I would rate the benefits package 3.5 stars. Employees are vested day one in the 401K plan and each year are giving $500 towards their medical HSA account. This helps to offset the out of pocket that has to be met before the medical insurance starts to pay.
List based on reports from current and former employees. It may not be complete.
