They allow you to take a week off if needed, making it so you have to make up that week pushing your planned work schedule back.
This was a remote internship. You can take as many sick days as you please, as the work was all from home. There was a weekly tracker, so you would have to let your manager know if some work would not be completed during the week
With a telecommuting internship, as I had, I did not have to take any sick days since I would turn everything in at the end of the week so I would just work more other days. But I am sure that if I really needed the week off they would have allowed it.
The internship is telecommute, unpaid, and has flexible work hours. If you are sick, you just take a days off with no penalty.
I personally have not gotten sick during the time that I was at the Borgen Project, but I am allowed to catch up with checklist items I've missed the following week.
not technically sick days, but taking time off is not at all frowned upon. it is free labor.....
