    You can choose a traditional pension plan, but it takes 8 years to get vested. There is also a 403 (like a 401(k) for government workers) that you are vested in after only 1 year. I would not recommend the pension plan as I doubt many would be around long enough to vest. It is part of the Florida Retirement System (FRS) so it would follow you to other government jobs in Florida.
