It really depends on your manager.
I got 2 weeks paid vacation time every year which I could either get paid out or I would save them for sick days. They did not however rollover so I had to remind them to pay me or take time off so I didn't lose the worked up day.
The law requires upto 3 paid sick days per year
I have never taken one but they are there. They are understaning and do not want a sick person at work getting everyone else ill.
