Because we were a state university, the legislature did not vote for a pay increase, but instead of the pay increase, they gave each employee and extra week of vacation time to make up for the lack of a raise.

Vacation and paid time off are fine.

StarStarStarStarStar Former Lead application developer in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Good amount of vacation leave, usually with bonus. Standard sick leave with short and long term disability. And a wide variety of holidays. Flexible work hours for many positions also helps conserve leave for when it is actually needed. The years of service increases could be decreased a bit to keep up with market.

Terrible package that when reaching a certain point could only be sold back at a percentage of the original full amount. It felt like being penalized for not taking vacation after working so hard to accumulate it.
