The company states that they match 50% of 401K contributions up to 6% of earnings.... why not just simplify this and say 3% match?

Not an overzealous benefits package or HR department, but for all the right reasons! HR department is always very responsive, accommodating, and focuses on what is important... the well-being of the employees.
Best thing is the support provided by HR when there are questions about health insurance or during open enrollment. The health insurance company is easy to deal with. The 401(k) is matching, and provides good selection of funds.

Smaller salaries vs competitors. No bonus structure, small T&E, small car allowance, non-competitive vacation time (PTO). Great health at a decent premium. Small national sales force requires more travel than usual.
