The plans are affordable and covers family members.
Many packages that are catered for young and older employees
various health plan options are available.
Several options, all of which receive a separate mental health benefit provided to every employee (since certain insurers have worse mental health coverage than others). They pay for a good amount of the premium -- e.g. for Kaiser Permanente, I think I pay about $50 a month for myself and $60 for my husband (approximately --within $10 or $15 of that).
Wide coverage of dental, vision and medical insurance. The insurance premium is a bit expensive but that is covered as part of your tuition if you find TA or RA positions.
Pretty wide range of coverage.
It is great. I have been with Kaiser under my parents insurance. The copay with Kaiser is not expensive and neither is the monthly medical deduction from your paycheck.
Too healthy covered at the PPO that is widely accepted throughout Orange County

Health insurance at UC Irvine is one of the best benefits, with diverse and comprehensive plans to choose from, with some of them highly affordable to both individuals and families. Worst part at UC Irvine: many staff scientist positions require additional hours at nights and weekends without being compensated for over-time pay.
