“neutral opinion about it. overall vacation days could be a bit more.”
Only need to work 20 hours a week to get full benefit package.
Worst thing is the lack of clear explanation of what to do with the "scholarship" received as regards taxes.
best state pension plan option
State pension can be strong if you invest the years. Offered vacation is strong and unused vacation is paid when leaving.... way better than "unlimited vacation" jobs. Health Ins., dental, professional training mediocre to non-existant.
Eligible to state pension after 10 years work.
Best: lots of vacation, holiday and sick time fully paid for professional level jobs. There is two tiered benefits though some jobs have less paid time off. Several health plans offered but employee needs to pay high amount of premiums. No 401K matching. Pension not as good as it used to be and not guaranteed to be there when you retire.
Comprehensive scientific community with a lot of collaboration chances. Parking spare is limited though
The benefits package at UMASS is very good. 13 paid holidays. You also earn vacation and sick time as well as 2 personal days. A part time employee working 20 hours a week can get full health insurance, where there is more than one company to choose from.
Great retirement plan, generous time off
Postdoctoral trainees do not have 401K. They have other plans. Health insurance is very good.
