Insurance can be very expensive if you're not single. Prices fluctuate greatly from year to year.

It's not a great plan and it used to be free but if you want anything above poor you'll have to pay. I hear the family plan is pretty expensive.

UNC is partnered with BC/BS with PPO plans. A single person used to get free health insurance, however the rate is now about 2.83 for an individual. I do not know the rates for family, however I have never heard of anyone complaining of it being to expensive.

The health care systems' subsidy of the health insurance is a great added benefits. The co-pays are higher, but you pay less out of your check due to their assistance, particularly if you have a family.

I think the deductible is pretty high; however, I am young and single and don't have any chronic medical needs, so I can opt for the 70/30 plan and don't have to pay anything monthly, which is great.
