The health insurance is affordable.
you get 40% of the cost back in your paycheck
Very good health care package which is subsidized by the organization. Various options and helpful assistance via phone/online.
Insurance can be very expensive if you're not single. Prices fluctuate greatly from year to year.
It's not a great plan and it used to be free but if you want anything above poor you'll have to pay. I hear the family plan is pretty expensive.
I really liked my health insurance in 2017 but they are not offering this option next year and the prices are going up considerably for me and my one dependent.
NC State Employee Insurance with discounts available
UNC is partnered with BC/BS with PPO plans. A single person used to get free health insurance, however the rate is now about 2.83 for an individual. I do not know the rates for family, however I have never heard of anyone complaining of it being to expensive.
The health care systems' subsidy of the health insurance is a great added benefits. The co-pays are higher, but you pay less out of your check due to their assistance, particularly if you have a family.
I think the deductible is pretty high; however, I am young and single and don't have any chronic medical needs, so I can opt for the 70/30 plan and don't have to pay anything monthly, which is great.
