    9 credit hours a year for an employee, and dependents can use these credits if the employee waives their own tuition assistance.

    That's the one big plus. The university's tuition waivers for a graduate RA or TA position in the sciences was rather well-funded, although it was always nerve-racking when you were up for renewal if you had a bad advisor.
