The healthcare and dental coverage are all good and cheap for research assistants at UConn. Besides, the tuition is free for RA too.
Good benefits. You get good healthcare coverage, including dental and eye care. Overall, benefits are fairly good. Very little complaints on this front.

Benefits at UConn are very good. The medical coverage is great and unionized employees have a generous amount of sick and vacation time. The university provides 6 weeks of paid time off for maternity leave (8 for a C-section), but this has to come out of your existing sick time. So when you go back to work, you have no time off for baby's doctor appointments. Not so good!
Student employees don't receive any benefits, so I did not have any paid time off or any of the mentioned benefits.
