    Health insurance, dental coverage similar to other State of Illinois jobs with several different packages allowed, ranging from PPO to more expensive health care. Although the state is sometimes late to pay and has high deductibles, choosing an in-network provider is usually economical. 403(b) plans are supported, and for civil service workers, participation in the State University Retirement System is mandatory. Benefits, including minimum retirement age, etc., have changed significantly since I was hired in 1997.
