The flexible schedules and rapid accrual of paid time off are great benefits.
You get a 401k. Vacation days that roll over. Standard sick days.
The benefits are quite amazing at KUMC.
Worst part, you must stay 6 years for receive 100% of your 401k and and insurance seems over priced when you work at a hospital.
401K and Paid time off are great benefits that come with the job. However, if you work for the university side (public sector) the health insurance premiums and deductibles have gone up every year.
You get lots of vacation time, 8 hours per pay period. You only get 3.75 hours of sick leave per pay period. I can use my vacation time if one of my kids are sick and I need to stay home, or if I need to take someone to an appointment. We also get designated vacation days, so we don't have to use our vacation time on Labor Day, for instance. If you are going on maternity leave, you have to use all of your vacation/sick leave; they don't have paid maternity leave.
good health insurance, a good chance to get the discount for next year premium, regular annual health screening.
In general, the overall benefits package was a huge reason why I stayed for so many years.
Pretty costly, but I've seen way worse.
A lot of hoops to jump through but definitely worth it in the end
