This is covered similarly to FMLA with 12 weeks of authorized absence using your leave banks.

6 weeks for women and up to 6 weeks for men. You need to draw down on your vacation/sick leave and if you need more time, they give it to you

They offer maternity leave and allow you to use sick leave you don't have yet if you need more time at home.

If you have no time accrued, they will pay 8 weeks leave for you. Otherwise, if you want income, you have to pay yourself through your own accrued vacation and sick time. You can, of course, take the full 12 weeks FMLA. Whether or not you are paid depends on if you've saved up enough time.

Best: That it's offered; Worst: That many younger employees who are just starting their family, haven't accrued enough leave to pay for their maternity/paternity leave. Also, staff policy is less generous than faculty policy.
