The best thing is that you can accrue vacation up to a certain point before you lose it. It increases depending on how any years you've been employed with the University. Over time, that adds up. I think it's standard to get 2 weeks to begin with and it might be negotiable. Worst thing?
The University is closed from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day with paid holiday time in-between.
I've accrued enough vacation to be off for over 30 days.
Not any different than any other company. You also get about a week paid for Christmas,
You can take up to 20 days of your Vacation & Paid Time Off
Quite inflexible with time-off and unpaid leave.
12 vacation days per year, maybe common for university admin jobs, yet very limiting considering USF is basically a ghost town in summer so most admin jobs don't really need to be there.
Generous time off during end of calendar year.
People don't seem to have issues with taking time off. I'm not sure how much vacation full-time employees get, but I felt like a lot of my coworkers were out of the office more than I'd expect.
