Valencia has an amazing benefits package. They will pay for your health insurance so it does not come out of your check. They also pay for your tuition and your dependents.
Retirement account via TIAA taken from paycheck
What is the best or worst thing about the benefits package at Valencia College? The worst would be that there are no benefits for part-time staff at all.
Health, paid time off, school vacations
PRO: 12 days paid vacation, 12 sick/personal leave, half day on Friday during summer, six weeks paid maternity leave.
Very generous paid time off, you get almost the whole month of December off and during the summer Fridays are half days. Dental, Optical, and Health were covered 100% when I was there.
Almost none for part-time employees.
The handful of weeks known as Summer Fridays were great. Being a state institution, there is a lot of red tape with trying to utilize many of the benefits. The Human Resources and Benefits offices are not located on any of the campuses. So learning about all of your benefits information as a new employee is not as thorough as it should be, and it continues to be difficult years into your employment.
We were not offered benefits at the time of my employment.
Low pay, but fully paid for health insurance.
